2012 - a great year for adventure!

Happy New Year, everyone!  It’s good to be back in the blogosphere.  My writing took a brief hiatus due to an unexpected contract job in Seattle, but that does not mean I haven’t had productive weekends!  Since the beginning of the year, I have managed to get to Chelan, and cover a lot of ground going from Moses Lake to Portland, Oregon.  More on both of those trips in future posts.  Today is just a short entry, as I am finally getting around to putting into writing my New Year’s resolutions on the last day of January.

So without further ado, here are Eastern Washington Weekend’s 2012 resolutions:

Resolution #1: Complete and write about at least 15 day or weekend trips around Eastern Washington.  Now that I have created this blog and committed to this project, I am determined to go for it, have a lot of fun and learn a lot of new things!

Resolution #2: Visit at least 6 new wineries!  If you know my husband and me, you know that we love drinking wine.  Now that we are smack dab in the middle of Washington’s various wine-growing areas, I am determined to spend many weekends drinking my way through the state!

Resolution #3: Write at least 4 posts about my local attractions.  Although I am excited to travel all over in Eastern Washington, I want to make sure I spend some time exploring our immediate surroundings.  In an attempt to do just this, I tried to visit Moses Lake’s Japanese Peace Garden today.  Alas, it has been closed for the season, so expect a posting about it come spring time!  As a side note, my current favorite is Portland's Japanese garden

Resolution #4: Go to the pumpkin patch this October.  Now that we live “in the country” I entertained some very romantic ideas of cutting down our own Christmas tree this year.  However, these hopes were dashed when I remembered that we live in the desert and there are no Christmas tree farms within 150 miles or so.  However, there ARE pumpkin patches, so my tree fantasy has changed to a pumpkin one, and I am very excited to go pick up a pumpkin and hopefully catch a hay ride sometime this fall.  Stay posted for that!

Well, there you have it.  I know only four resolutions seems kind of wimpy, but you have to admit #1 is kind of a biggie!  Plus, I am rolling these resolutions in with some other goals for the year and trying to keep my aspirations somewhat realistic.  To get an idea of the other stuff I’m working on, check out my other blog, Marta’sDomestic Goddess Project.

So now that you have an idea of where all this is going, be on the lookout for posts on our actual adventures!  Here’s hoping 2012 is going to be an amazing and fun-filled year!
